This is only the first step in encouraging girls to actively participate in our outreach programmes at YB.
We align ourselves with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly around gender equality. However, the reality on the ground is not straightforward.
For many girls in our community, participation in sport is affected by: safety concerns when travelling to and from training, limited transport options, challenging environments in the townships, responsibilities at home, from cooking and cleaning to caring for siblings, sanitary and hygiene barriers.
These are real challenges, and they require more than just good intentions. Our goal is to establish a girls’ team, but more importantly, to create a safe and supportive pathway for girls to take part — consistently and confidently.
This means working closely with families and communities, step by step. We believe real change is possible. And as always, we are grateful to have you alongside us on this journey. We are not just building players. We are building futures.
